Oh Canada!

Happy Independence Days for Canada (July 1) and USA (July 4)
OK, so it’s Dominion Day for Canada and it marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada was then divided into Ontario and Quebec) on 1 July 1867. The British Parliament still kept limited rights of political control over the new country, finally ending in 1982.
You mean the British government kinda ruled when I was born in Quebec? Who knew?
Yup, I am pursuing dual citizenship by reclaiming my Canadian one, which is now in the works. Hope they send me my replacement birth certificate soon so I get going on this!
Oh Canada!
Hey – you might be Canadian!
O Canada! our home and native land!
True patriot-love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
And stand on guard, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
Chorus
O Canada, glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! where pines and maples grow,
Great prairies spread, and lordly rivers flow.
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From East to Western sea.
The land of hope for all who toil,
The True North strong and free!
Chorus
O Canada, glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada! beneath our shining skies,
May stalwart sons, and gentle maidens rise.
To keep thee steadfast through the years,
From east to western sea,
Our own beloved native land,
Our true north strong and free!
Chorus
O Canada, glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Ruler Supreme! who hearest humble prayer,
Hold thy Dominion in thy loving care;
Help us to find, Oh God, in thee,
A lasting rich reward.
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.
O Canada, Glorious and free! Amen
